Introduction to Dementia
These sessions are designed to introduce the concepts of dementia care to family members. To provide knowledge and understanding of dementia and to facilitate the development of skills in a person–centered philosophy of care through reflection and improved practice.
Learning Outcomes
- To learn about the diagnoses of Alzheimer’s and related dementias
- To understand the difference between dementia and Alzheimer’s
- To identify the healthy aging brain
- To understand how to live with dementia
- To identify effective communication strategies for persons with dementia
- To discuss the philosophy of person–centered care
Who Should Attend
All family members, care partners, friends and other members of the public are welcome

Participants receive a certificate of attendance, all course hand–outs, the Living Dementia Case–Study Approach book, and a Care Wheel
